Day One of the International Fundraising Congress finished up yesterday leaving me inspired about all the amazing things happening around the world in fundraising and in nongovernmental organizations. Most inspiring to me was the ‘Help an Oma’ campaign that won the ‘Innovative Fundraising Campaign” award last night.
This video provides a little overview of the campaign organized by Diakonia Frankfort (in Germany). In short, three omas (grandmas) helped to recruit volunteers. They hit the streets and put themselves into situations where they needed help. After people came to their rescue, they were given a piece of paper that says something to the effect of, ‘we need people like you.’ They far exceeded their goal of volunteers.
What ideas does this give you?
